(Rothko, Mark. No. 301. [Red & Blue over Red] c. 1959.
Oil & acrylic with powdered pigments on canvas.
Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angles, California, US.)

--Rothko's flowing rectangles, shades of red--
o'er mountains where the sun begins to fade
sitting wistfully by the ruined shed
a man, Narcissus, was heard to have prayed
"right when all the world's dried up you came to
inspire me like a river of roses-
overflow, nourish these bleak wastes anew"
Petals lovingly blessed by a goddess
enveloped the ground like a blanket of
red snow- only fragrant and inviting
as spring and as heartwarming like a soft
lover's embrace.. but also as fleeting.
ephemeral images in the mind
zephyr stirs the memories left behind.
(a fragmented sonnet;
first page.. ~narcissus / snssıɔɹɐu~)
